This game is a team-based shooter that is incredibly popular in the gaming community. Next to Counter-strike 1.6, the predecessor to this game, it’s the most popular competitive game in the world. There’s countless of online leagues and ladders, in which teams compete to be the best. Also there are offline events called Lanparties. They are sponsored events in which popular games are played in tournaments, including Css. There are prizes for the winners. These events last a whole weekend, from friday afternoon to sunday afternoon (night and day!).
Css is played with teams, each consisting of 5 players. Such a team is called a ‘clan’. I’m currently in a clan named Pre-Mind, and it’s ranked as one of the best teams in The Netherlands (top 5 at least). We frequently visit Lanparties, and so far we’ve performed really well in each one, always ending in the top 3.
